How does the Argus Pigging Valve help reduce emissions?
Argus&rsquo; manual Pigging Valve provides the same functionality as fabricated trap style pigging equipment, allowing the operator to introduce pipeline maintenance and inspection devices (Pigs) into the pipeline. &nbsp;There is a significant difference in footprint between the two and a large portion of that difference is based on the size of the trap. &nbsp;Utilizing traditional barrel style pig traps, you are required to vent or send to flare the volume of media that is trapped within the barrel. &nbsp;When utilizing the Argus Pigging Valve, the volume of media that is vented or sent to flare is only what is trapped between the seats of the valve. &nbsp;The difference in volume is substantial given the physical spaces.
When using Argus&rsquo; Automated Multi-Pigging Packages, additional emissions reductions can be attained because multiple pigs are launched for every venting operation. &nbsp;Some Automated Pigging Packages accommodate up to eleven pigs! &nbsp;Due to inherent design features, there is no venting for each pig run. &nbsp;This means that you can launch eleven pigs with one single vent of the pig chamber.
THE DIFFERNCE IN SOME CASES IS UP TO 91% EMISSIONS REDUCTIONS, BASED ON FLOW CONDITIONS.
What about Inline Inspection?
In the last ten years there have been six inspection technology developers that have introduced single module short pattern inspection pigs. &nbsp;The technology varies and we have successfully tested three of the technologies at the Pipeline Research Council International in Houston, Texas in 2017 and we continue to work with the others to prove complimenting technologies.
What are the other benefits?
Regular and consistent pigging helps to improve production and head off corrosion in pipelines by clearing debris and wax, sweeping out fluid, and inspecting lines for defects. &nbsp;Use of Argus&rsquo; Pigging Valves or Automated Multi-Pigging Packages allow operators to realize the benefits of Production Optimization and Corrosion Mitigation along with significantly reducing emissions associated with launching and receiving pipeline pigs.
