Opening keynote: Priorities for integration work in the EU

Guglielmo Schinin&agrave; is Head of Mental health, Psychosocial Response and Intercultural Communication at the International Organization for Migration (IOM). He is an expert in psychosocial activities in war-torn situations and disasters, with vulnerable migrants and victims of trafficking, and in cultural integration.
Guglielmo has worked as manager of psychosocial programmes, psychosocial technical advisor and psychosocial trainer in more than 70 Countries worldwide for different international organisations including UNICEF in Moldova, and the United Nations Development Program in Serbia, Non-Governmental Organizations, including the Italian Consortium of Solidarity and War Child, and academic institutions including the Catholic University of Milan.
Guglielmo is a member of the FOCUS Advisory Board.
In his keynote, he will reflect on the implications of the concept of dynamic integration from a policy perspective.

FOCUS has identified four key areas for additional investment and action to improve the integration of newcomers, and particularly, of those seeking international protection:
<ul>
<li>Empowering and engaging both newcomers and the receiving community in the integration process;</li>
<li>Enhancing Mental Health and Psychosocial Support;</li>
<li>Reinforcing multistakeholder partnerships and coordination for successful integration;</li>
<li>Fostering a participatory and co-creative approach to integration</li>
</ul>
In this closing roundtable, we would like to reflect on policies and investments that could be undertaken in one or more of these areas (according to their experience and/or priorities) to better support newcomers&rsquo; integration and inclusive societies.
We will address EU policies in areas such as intergroup contact and trust, specific needs and potential of migrant women, funding and programming and partnerships for migrant inclusion.
