About CBCA
The Children's Book Council of Australia; (CBCA) is a not for profit, volunteer run organisation which aims to engage the community with literature for young Australians.
The CBCA was founded in 1945 in a when Australian children&rsquo;s books were few, and Australian authors and illustrators were virtually unknown. The following year, 1946 the The Book of the Year Awards, an annual award to promote books of high literary and artistic quality was established. These awards are now the most influential and highly respected in Australia.
The CBCA is made up of state branches, that work to promote literature and literacy in their state. The branches each send a representative to the judging panel for the Book of the Year awards.
Members of the CBCA's National Board are either nominated by their state/territory branches or sit as independent directors.
In 2015, the CBCA celebrated 70 years of promoting and supporting the best of Australian literature for young people. In 2025 we are celebrating our 80th birthday with special functions throughout the country in August.

About Children's Book Week
Each year, across Australia, the CBCA brings children and books together celebrating Children's Book Week &reg;. Throughout the year, the CBCA works in partnership with authors, illustrators, publishers, booksellers and other organisations in the children&rsquo;s book world to bring words, images and stories into the hearts and minds of children and adults.
With our 2025 Children's Book Week theme; Book an Adventure, we're celebrating reading stories and their amazing power to transport minds, with artwork by Jess McGeachin. We are encouraging kids to be curious about the wonders in our world. It is a positive and affirming message for our young people. The adventure of reading also lies in its power of enticement; a good story provokes conversations.&nbsp;
Talking about the stories with others connects the reader with other readers. Wrapped around all of this are the "tricks" and skills of our amazing writers and illustrators, as they use all their powers of language and illustration to engage the reader in this world they are building.

Welcome to StoryBox Hub!&nbsp;
We are the new home of the widely celebrated resources, Story Box Library and Story Tools.
Story Box Library is a subscription based educational website, created for children to view stories by local authors and illustrators, being read aloud by fantastic, predominantly Australian storytellers.
Story Tools is a new story writing series that helps students in&nbsp;grades 3-6 master the mechanics of storytelling.
We are committed to showcasing the power of stories to children as tools to help us Connect.&nbsp;

About PETAA
We are a national, not-for-profit professional association supporting primary school educators in the teaching and learning of English and literacies across the curriculum.
PETAA sees teachers as experts who select and sequence content and learning activities in order to support learning that develops cumulatively over time. These sequences are initiated through teacher-directed explicit teaching of knowledge and skills, followed by guided practice that develops knowledge and skills so that students can operate independently. Throughout, teaching decisions are informed by on-going assessment of students&rsquo; progress.
We provide teachers at all stages of their careers with the knowledge and resources to enable them to make informed decisions to support their students&rsquo; learning.
