NatureRe is a Switzerland-based company with the purpose to restore nature and remove carbon at scale whilst providing sound returns. Together with our partner South Pole we have put together a global team of seasoned experts channelling finance into impact investing.
We have acquired pieces of land in the region of Antioquia, Colombia: 700 hectares with almost 70% of it in a degraded state due to cattle ranching activities. The ecosystem around is very rich and diverse, and will help achieve the natural restoration of the lands.
On top of letting Nature do its work by sowing its seeds, NatureRe&rsquo;s expert team will assist nature with soft measures such as weeding, fire prevention, exclusion of grazing animals, bird perches, boundary fencing and control of invasive species.
The local community around will be involved in the project, and will benefit from it with activities such as eco-tourism, ranger jobs to protect the restored land and investments in education projects.

Reference project
In 2014, we initiated a pilot project in the Choc&oacute; region of Colombia. In total, an area of approx. 8ha in need of restoration of a natural park (350ha) was identified, acquired and restoration processes were started. Seven years later, local communities can see the impact of the project: nature has regenerated, and the unique biodiversity of Colombia has flourished once again.
