When it comes to fraud, organisations are ‘flying blind’. This is the assessment of the Public Accounts Committee, which produced a major report into tackling fraud against government in September. With fraud and error losses running to potentially tens of billions a year, the negative impact on public services – to say nothing of citizens’ trust in government – is of mounting concern.
