The <a href="http://www.goodmeatproject.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Good Meat Project</a> builds pathways to responsible meat production and consumption.
We envision a thoughtful, conscientious culture of meat consumption that supports an ecologically sound, economically viable, responsible system of meat production, with the capacity to improve our environment, as well as the lives of animals and the people who produce and eat them for food.
What do we mean by Good Meat? Good Meat means caring for land, animals, and people. It means transparency from start to finish. At the end of the day, it also means nourishment and community.
How do we achieve our mission?
By sharing knowledge, building coalitions, and empowering change makers, the Good Meat Project inspires everyone along the meat supply chain to help build healthy, resilient, responsible, regional meat production systems. We develop in-person and online educational, networking, and advocacy opportunities for everyone along the meat supply chain from rancher to butcher to chef to eater. In order to build strong, local, Good Meat coalitions, we bring people together from all economic, religious, political, geographical, and ethnic backgrounds to share diverse Good Meat practices and knowledge with one another.

Good Meat Project

We envision a future in which private and leased public lands in the West are resilient to stressors, healthy and biologically diverse, and provide for prosperous rural business and critical ecological services.
WLA recognizes that economic vitality and conservation go hand-in-hand. Given that private lands encompass the most productive and biologically diverse landscapes, including the majority of water resources, landowners have a pivotal role to play in shaping the future. WLA provides a collective voice, a peer network and a shared knowledge base for landowners striving to keep the land whole and healthy.
Our lands are like family. We want to know they will thrive. Private ranches, farms and forest properties are an important economic and cultural mainstay for Western rural communities. These working lands provide jobs and a high quality way of life. They also provide valuable open space, protect crucial habitat and wildlife corridors, harbor the majority of imperiled species and control much of the water, including headwaters critical for healthy watersheds and downstream users. Most landowners have a strong interest in managing their land to support these diverse values, yet we face many challenges in doing so.
It takes more than just desire and vision to keep land healthy, productive and intact; it takes knowledge and science, money, skilled labor, community resources and supportive public policies.

The 13-member Board, appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture, is focused on increasing demand by promoting the freshness, flavor, nutritional benefits, and culinary versatility of American Lamb. The work of the American Lamb Board is overseen by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the board&rsquo;s programs are supported and implemented by the staff in Denver, Colorado. &nbsp;

In addition to our supply chain partnerships, Burgerville invests in communities &ldquo;One Bite at a Time&rdquo; by giving back. Our Burger Breaks campaign delivered more than 10,000 cheeseburgers to frontline workers during the pandemic. And, with our guests and partners, donated $40,000 to organizations moving the needle in agriculture, business and community resilience for Black, Brown and Indigenous people in the Northwest.
Our Farmers Forever campaign is highlighting the challenges Northwest farmers and ranchers are facing from farmland changing hands through succession to the impacts of climate change. On National Farmers Day, we invited customers and partners to help by giving back to the Oregon Agricultural Trust and Washington Farmland Trust. These two organizations are working hard to ensure our farmers and ranchers can keep working for generations to come. We are proud to have raised more than $8000 through our restaurants in the first leg of our campaign, and intend to grow our partnership with the land trusts.
