Launched in August 2017 by IIT Bombay Alumni Arun Lodhi, Pulkit Agrawal, and NITIE Alumnus Bimal Kartheek Rebba, the genesis of Trell can be traced back to a singular realization by the founders; the dearth of meaningful content and discovery being a challenge in the age of click-bait content on the Internet.
 Furthermore, while social media has given voice to many, the majority of Indians do not hail from English-speaking backgrounds and feel uncomfortable in having a wholesome presence on existing platforms, owing to language barriers and lack of technical know-how.
 While India has over 734 Million Internet users (54% penetration) as of October 2020, only 15% (110 Mn) shop online today. This is primarily because Indians struggle with trust on the existing online platforms for their purchases and only buy products from a trusted source. Additionally, product discovery and the unavailability of descriptions in local languages pose a huge challenge for the growth of commerce in the country.
 To bridge the current gaps in the ecosystem, Trell believes in the power of an engaged community and aims to create familiar and culturally relatable online experiences for Indian users. The platform enables users to create and share 3-minute vertical videos in over 20 interest-based lifestyle categories like Fashion, Beauty, Recipes, Personal Care, Technology &amp; Gadgets, Movies &amp; TV Reviews, with a like-minded community, in 10 Indian languages. Peer-to-Peer recommendations on the platform have become a colossal hit through which millions of KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders) were able to share their stories with their followers without any language barriers and help them to make well-informed lifestyle choices.
