We have developed a system for industry, companies and municipalities that reduces CO2 emissions and costs.
Starting in mid-2022, this will reduce greenhouse gases by gigatonnes and make organic affordable.
Our biocarbons remove CO2 from the atmosphere, avoid large amounts of other greenhouse gases and substitute many petroleum-based materials.
Each tonne of carbonauten biocarbon permanently stores up to 3.3 tonnes of CO2. From this we make the super materials NET Materials&reg;.

From 2022, the biocarbons will be produced in large quantities, high qualities and at low prices at decentralised locations using an advanced pyrolytic carbonisation technology. As an attractive by-product, large quantities of surplus, base-load renewable energy will be generated. Biocarbons are one of 6 recognised NET (Negative Emission Technology) and, together with afforestation, are currently the most sensible and economical method. They remove CO2 from the atmosphere, store it permanently in attractive products and reduce aggressive greenhouse gases such as methane and nitrous oxide, since carbonisation prevents rotting processes.
This is what the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC) gGmbH states: CO2 removal from the atmosphere unavoidable for 1.5 degree target
The goal of the carbonauts is the global production of biocarbons. To this end, biocarbons are produced from woody residues of biomasses from forestry, agriculture, food and wood industries. These are wastes that often rot, are burned or buried.
NET Materials&reg; (Negative Emission Technology) consist of a combination of CO2-reducing biocarbons with various binders such as proteins, biopolymers, polymers, silicates, minerals, etc., which have new, sometimes superior properties, including weight and durability.
They are cheaper than their conventional and fossil counterparts because the production of our biocarbons is highly efficient and biomass residues are cheap. In addition, the carbonisation process produces surplus, base-load renewable energy that is used by third parties or fed into grids
After use, products made from NET Materials&reg; are, depending on the binder, biodegradable (only the binder, the biocarbon remains permanently as a soil improver), recyclable or, as a C to C solution, also recarbonisable (conversion back into carbon).
This means disruption: because the more products made from NET Materials&reg; will enter the markets, the better it will be for the environment.

Carbonauten GmbH the minus CO2 factory

The goal of PEF Technologies B.V. is to develop a new energy efficient process for liquid foods and beverages preservation based on application of high voltage pulses of nanosecond duration (nanoPEF). All existing PEF companies use microsecond pulses for food processing. Based on the fact that bacteria inactivation rate after PEF treatment depends much stronger on the electric field intensity rather than on its duration, we found a way to generate nanosecond pulses instead of microsecond ones but with much higher electric field intensity. As a result, the safety level is the same as after HTST pasteurization (5log or 10⁵ times) while energy consumption is up to 50% lower.

We are primarily focused on the market of milk-based ingredients but our technology can be perfectly applied for any homogeneous liquid product.
&nbsp;
Together with one of the leading dairy producers, we have performed a proof-of-concept study on product quality and bacteria inactivation in nanoPEF processed milk. According to the outcomes, the protein composition is 99.8% the same as in raw milk samples, which is in 20% higher than after HTST pasteurization (72&deg;C/15s). Other nutrients and sensory properties of milk are undamaged as well.
In addition, nanoPEF treatment is extremely effective against Thermophilic spore-forming bacteria. As a result, it is possible to increase the effective working time of dairy plant up to 1 hour per day and reduce cleaning expenses.

Our break-through technology can offer multiple benefits to dairy producers :
&middot; Increased production volume of milk-based ingredients in 20%, e.g lactoferrin (LF), from the same amount of milk.
&middot; Substitution of conventional pasteurization for premium raw milk cheese where the quality of milk in its original non-processed state is important for sensory properties.
&middot; Less time up to 1 h per day is needed for CIP (cleaning-in-place), therefore enhanced effective production time and revenue growth up to 5%. The water consumption for cleaning is estimated to be in 12 times less comparing to pasteurization system.
&middot; Reduction of energy consumption from 10% to 50% comparing to HTST(72&deg;C/15s) and ESL (130˚C/4s) pasteurization respectfully. In addition, our machine consumes only electricity and, therefore, the CO2 emissions can be reduced up to 80%.
We believe that our technology can be not only a step forward in sustainable food production but also an opportunity to develop new highly nutritious products in favor for health of future generations.
