WHAT IS IT?
A chili cookoff event and fundraiser on Saturday, March 5, 2022, bringing together the Houston innovation ecosystem to celebrate progress, educate the community, and have some Texas-style fun! The event will benefit the Southern Smoke Foundation created by world-renowned culinary king and Houstonian Chris Shepard to assist people in need in the food and beverage industry.
The team entry fee of $500 includes booth space and partnership with a notable local chef. Teams will work with their chef to prepare their chili beginning Friday night. On Saturday, cook teams may occupy their booth beginning at 7:00 AM. The FREE admission by registration chili tasting portion of the event will be open from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and will include sampling chili, enjoying a side dish featuring artisan bread baked by Bread Man, a cash bar for beer and wine, and entertainment on the main stage featuring emcee Outspoken Bean and classic rock band Crossing Jordan. Competing teams will tell their story through themed booths and the competition will include awards for best chili, best side dish, most creative theme, people&rsquo;s choice, and teams&rsquo; ability to raise funds for the charity. LOCATION
The Ion, located at 4201 Main Street, is the 266,000 square foot anchor of the new innovation district designed to bring together the entrepreneurial, corporate, and academic communities. The Ion will add to the festivities by hosting technology demonstrations and activation events both inside and outside the building adjacent to the parking lot where a huge event tent will host the competition rain or shine.&nbsp;
